New Armies, Knight’s kneecapped? and a Change of view
Welcome Brothers and Sisters, I’m James, an average closet Warhammer Nerd who has been drawn back into the Warhammer Universe by a Slaaneshi Fiend (friend) I thought I had left the Grim Dark Future behind me in the late 90’s….but it looks like I am back. Join me on my journey back to social and tournament 40K gaming.
Ah ha I got ya!! not really new armies but codex releases for Death Guard, World Eaters and Emperors Children. It’s got me thinking, with these releases come some beefy mid toughness units becoming more common and these factions are new, exciting and will be popular. Could it be worth trying to take more plasma and autocannon strength weapons to help with putting down the heretical likes of Eightbound, plague marines, Blightlord Terminators, and noise marines? not to mention pesky chaos spawn. I guess the other angle is to use strats or characters to get some lethal hits on the go. Either way it will be great fun to play against any of these factions as they all have unique playstyles and interesting army rules and stratagems also the mini’s look awesome on the table top.
Knights have had their toughness reduced, big boys down to 11 and the “little” guys down to 9. They have been given extra wounds though, so maybe things just balance out but being able to wound the big fella’s on a 3 with St12 shots seems like a big plus point and now St9 weapons wound the little fella’s on 4’s. There are lots of strength 9 and 12 weapons out there, time will tell if this is a knock to potentially the strongest faction out there on the table tops at the moment.
IMPERIAL KNIGHTS
The bigger they are…
So I’ve jabbered on about not picking polarised armies but having given it some more thought…..you know what, if you want to be that mofo who takes, Be’lakor, a Bloodthirster, 3 Great Unclean Ones and a Lord of Change…..you know what, go for it!!
What the hell!! It looks cool and its exciting seeing the big badass stuff on the table. It also keeps everyone else guessing, especially if you’re building an army list for a tournament, you have to think……. what if I get that crazy greater daemon guy or the 200 Imperial Guard swarm guy (could be a girl, just ya know, unlikely) or the 4 big knights dude…..look at him, with a massive smug grin on his face as he slowly reveals them one at a time and explains their abilities and chortles at how much cheaper they are after the update. “This is Sir Buttkiss, Sir Heffalump, Canis Rex Obvs ahahhaa”……….CANIS!! If you pull out another one pal it’s going up your $@3%
In the world of my Imperial Fists, the Tech Priest has applied the first layers of paint and we are working out just what tone of glorious yellow they are going to be. They’ve also got a date with another 40K Super Major tournament!! I just can’t help myself and have entered The BEACHHEAD BRAWL in Bournemouth ,merry old England. It’s not until February, so lots of time to practice and to tinker with the army, talking of which, I have been thinking about a more vehicle heavy Ironstorm Spearhead list, more on that as it develops.
OOPS
I did it again…
